We are delighted to announce that the Greenbank Project and Greenbank Sports Academy have secured funding from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority UK government Youth Guarantee Trailblazer Programme and VOLA.
This partnership will give 15 young people aged 18-21 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) the chance to take part in a 12-week programme of sport, fitness and confidence building activities. The programme is designed for young people with SEND, neurodivergent conditions, mental health challenges, or those facing other barriers to education and employment and will run for 12 weeks from January 2026.
What does the programme include?
Delivered from Greenbank Sports Academy , a fully accessible and inclusive facility, participants will take part in structured weekly sport and fitness activities, gym access, coaching sessions, mentoring, and accredited National Sports Governing Body training. All participants will receive Chartered Institute for Management, Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) membership, access to CPD, and tailored support into workforce pathways.
The Programme includes:
- Access to Inclusive physical activity, disability sport programme and
adapted sports. - Free access to Greenbank Gym.
- Accredited National Governing Body qualifications – In person and
online with support available from Greenbank.

– Power Football - 1:1 mentoring and personalised support
- Confidence-building and employability workshops
- Work placements with Liverpool employers
- Sector insight from Paralympic role models, disability-led consultants,
UK Coaching and CIMSPA - A Free 3-month gym membership extension on completion.
Target Group:
- NEET young people aged 18–21 – Focused on young people from South Liverpool but available to any Liverpool City Region resident.
- Particularly: SEND, neurodivergent, socially isolated, inactive or low-confidence young adults.
This programme provides a supportive and motivating environment where participants gain qualifications, develop confidence through physical activity, improve wellbeing, and move into meaningful education, training, or work.
