Teresa (Tracy) Murphy
Chair

Tracy has considerable experience in the education sector and has worked as a Senior Finance Manager at Liverpool John Moores University for over 30 years.

Working within the Finance Senior Leadership team, she has managed income, expenditure, payroll and insurance functions of the University and is currently supporting business process improvements and efficiencies programmes.

“I have first-hand experience of Greenbank College as my son studied here for a number of years. I am a supporter of empowering all students to reach their full potential through education and sport..”

Sean Marshall
Chair of Finance & Resources Subgroup

Sean joined Greenbank’s board of Trustees in 2019 and currently serves as its Treasurer.

“My involvement with Greenbank started a number of years ago when my brother attended the College. The work that charities and organisations such as Greenbank do is vital to our communities. I am looking to draw on my experience in finance, property and construction to assist the board in anyway I can.”

Emma Hulme
Sports Academy Lead

Emma is an experienced Staffing and Recruitment specialist. She has worked in this field, across a variety of different sectors, in London and Merseyside for over 14 years and currently works as a Recruitment and Retention Manager for a large sporting venue in Liverpool.

Emma was appointed to Greenbank’s Council of Management in February 2016.

“I have been involved with fundraising for Greenbank since I can remember, with the charity being a massive part of my upbringing. I know how far it has come and what amazing achievements have been accomplished. I am delighted, now that I have moved back to Liverpool, to be able to get more involved again.”

John Gillan
Health & Safety Lead

John is the Director of Safety, Health and Environment at Liverpool John Moores University, where he has worked for nearly 22 years. Before that, he worked for the Manchester Airport Group and also in other sectors. Degree and MSc qualifications have helped John to appreciate the importance of effective governance. He has been a School Governor, a Youth Club Leader, and a member of a Parochial Church Council and Deanery Synod. John has said that it is an honour for him to be associated with Greenbank.

Anne Kinsella
Safeguarding & Prevent Lead

Anne has approximately 40 years of experience working in social services before moving into education.

For the last 20 years and prior to recently retiring, Anne took on responsibility as Education and Curriculum manager for the management of post-16 provision at Greenbank College.  This included the curriculum offer for post-16 SEN and other disadvantaged young people and adults, ensured compliance with Government guidance/funding and ensured opportunities were matched to local need.

Anne also had responsibility of management of 16 tutors, 3 co-ordinators and budget and resource management ensuring compliance, quality assurance and audit. Anne had overall responsibility for student welfare and safeguarding.

“My most significant experience involved the development of a Supported Internship programme working with local employers and enabling young people with EHCP’s to take the next step from education into the world of work.”

Paul Clark

Paul Clark graduated from Liverpool University with a Law degree in 1974. He became a Solicitor in 1977 and a Barrister in 1994. He retired as a Barrister in 2024. During his legal career he was involved in all aspects of litigation specialising as a Barrister in large personal injury cases acting for injured people.

In addition, Paul was a Liverpool city Councillor representing the county ward in Walton for 34 years. During his time as a  Liverpool city Councillor he was involved as one of the major figures in Liberal Democrat administrations in the social services from 1980 to 1983 and for the transformation of the city from 1998 to 2010 which involved building Liverpool one, the arena, the cruise terminal and winning the European capital of culture for the city in 2008. During 2007 to 2008 he was Lord Mayor throughout a momentous year for the city on its 800th birthday and for the opening of the European capital of culture year.

Ian Green
College Lead - Career Lead - Chair of the Scrutiny Group

With over three decades of experience shaping and leading adult education across the Northwest, Ian Green is a dedicated leader in adult education and has built a career defined by purpose, innovation, and impact. Since beginning his journey at Wigan & Leigh College in 1988, Ian has remained steadfast in his belief that education transforms lives—particularly for adults seeking new opportunities, confidence, and direction.

Throughout his career, Ian has combined strategic leadership with a passion for accessibility and inclusion. His work has spanned curriculum design, partnership development, and the delivery of large-scale government-funded programmes, always with a focus on empowering individuals and strengthening communities.

Holding senior leadership positions with Wigan & Leigh College, The City of Liverpool College and several Independent Training Providers, Ian has led teams through growth, change, and success. His last position as Managing Director of an independent training provider saw him oversee a diverse portfolio of adult learning and skills programmes, championing innovation and quality at every stage.

Company Secretary

Mary is as the Company Secretary of the Board of Trustees and joined Greenbank as Chief Executive Officer in 2017. She is a highly qualified senior manager with over twenty-five years’ experience of working in the learning and skills sector, recently working for a local authority with a remit of discharging its statutory duties in relation to the 16-19/25 agenda. Having excellent leadership, influencing and strategic skills, Mary has fully utilised these in a previous role as Charity Manager of a young carers’ charity.

Mary is known for her commitment to partnership working. She also likes to bring out the best in people and this was never more apparent than in a previous role, as Volunteer Manager for Liverpool Culture Company where she managed over 1000 volunteers.
