“I’ve always been passionate about sport; before my accident I was a boxer. I also worked in a warehouse as a forklift truck driver and then everything changed and I became a wheelchair user in 2011.
One thing that didn’t change though was my passion for sport – I’ve been an athlete all my life and now I’m a wheelchair-racer and basketball player.
I joined the Inclusive Sports Development Foundation Degree last September, having completed a coaching qualification first and I enjoy everything about it. When I started, I wasn’t sure what to expect, or whether or not I’d cope with the work, particularly as English is my second language. I shouldn’t have worried – the tutors have been really supportive and it’s just what I need to achieve my ambitions.
Eventually I’d like to work with other people with a spinal cord injury and help them to improve their fitness. I’d also like to train athletes at elite level.
As long as sport is your passion and you’re prepared to work hard then Inclusive Sport Development Foundation Degree could be just what you’re looking for – it’s been great for me.”
